It is funny how certain issues grab you and the need to do something about it is overwhelming. I know what you are talking about. No matter how much you want to ignore it you can’t.It is never easy to tackle or easy to deal with but it is always a great learning experience. Just don’t forget to also care for your own needs along the way.

Barb . . . I too have been “ambushed by God” in the past. As I sit here and type I feel His light shinning all over this page, stirring inside me all over again. Thank you for reminding me it is not my plans, which are hard to follow and weaken me, but His plans that will carry me through life and strengthen me; no matter how hard the road ahead appears to me. I leave you with this: Psalm 16:8 (English Standard Version) “I have set the Lord always before me; because he is at my right hand, I shall not be shaken.”

This is an amazing calling God has put on your heart. Not only are you getting up and speaking about it and rising to the challenge, you have been 100% impacted by those stories and statistics…..and by speaking to you just after the summit you were so moved to act. This is the glory of HIM and shines through in you. Awesome. I can’t wait to see what he does with this within you.

I can’t wait to see how He uses you either! What an excellent description of where most of us are and how dynamite His power is when the truth is placed before us and His Spirit helps us understand it! May we all be moved to action, Barb!

Hi Barb. This has to be my favorite blog entry from you, but I say that everytime hunh? I was ambushed last August when I saw the little clip of the homeless girl by Richard Curtis at the Willowcreek Summit. I cried for two hours straight. But the image keeps stirring my heart. I read this aloud to my husband (like I do with all your articles. We love your sense of humour!) Basically in response to “what can I do?” about the epidemic — But Chris said perhaps God isn’t asking one person to help 12 million. God is asking one person to maybe help just one. For me to personally help just one other? Well, THAT I can do. I most certainly can. Thank God for you and what you are doing for AIDS and Malawi. God is using you in such a powerful way and you inspire all of us. Post a comment
